On Thursday, July 29, Ontario Solar Network (OSN) and Aird & Berlis LLP (A&B), will host “Developing Ontario’s Solar Generation: a Legal Road Map,” highlighting opportunities and challenges under the province’s feed-in tariff (FIT) and microFIT programs.
The FIT program has inspired business leader to promote widespread solar adoption, but navigating the logistics of these incentives is becoming difficult. This event follows on the heels of OSN’s June 22 Town Hall Meeting discussing the Ontario Power Authority’s proposed pricing changes for the microFIT.
According to David Gower, Associate Director of Ontario Solar Academy, “The FIT offers solar entrepreneurs promise of financial success, but growing uncertainty about the program’s future makes it harder for these developers to close deals.”
“Legal Roadmap” is a networking event geared towards all solar stakeholders, including developers, lenders, and power producers. Topics will cover leasing contracts, loan agreements, corporate structuring, and taxation. Following the breakfast program is a seminar focused on negotiating rooftop solar leases.
According to Jacob Travis, Chairman of Ontario Solar Network, “A&B has vast experience in Ontario’s energy sector. Leading solar developers regularly seek their counsel, and through this event, anyone can gain direct access to the firm’s legal expertise.”
The breakfast event and seminar will take place Thursday, July 29 from 7:30 - 11:30am at the Hilton Garden Inn - Vaughan.
