PV Powered, Inc, pioneer in grid-tied PV inverters in the residential, commercial, and utility markets, announced last week that it had appointed industry veteran, Marty Fleet, to manage its Sales & Business Development team in Canada. Fleet is expected to open up a new Ontario regional sales office from which to help spearhead PV Powered’s expansion in one of North America’s fastest growing solar markets.
Ontario’s Stars Are Beginning to Align
By all accounts, Fleet’s timing and professional background could not have been more perfectly matched. With over 15 years in power electronics, half of which were dedicated to solar technology and business development specifically, Fleet’s resume stands out in an industry that many still consider to be in its infancy. In more recent years, he worked with Satcon as its Regional Sales Manager, overseeing commercial PV purchasing and FuelCell inverter business development throughout various parts of North America.
Couple Fleet’s history with Ontario’s recent wave of solar incentives and FIT-approved projects, and it is becomes clear why his arrival could not have been more auspicious for the province’s residents, businesses, and of course, PV Powered. Similar incentives had been launched in Ontario before, but the most recent legislation extends these benefits, creating even more opportunities for homeowners and businesses alike.
Sean White, Lead Instructor at Ontario Solar Academy, offers, “the new FIT programs are the best incentives that the world has ever seen for PV. My focus has shifted from California to Canada largely because of this.” White adds, “the incentives get as good as $0.80 per kWh for 20 years guaranteed.”
There is no shortage of praise for the new FIT incentives under the Ontario Power Authority’s revised guidelines. With more growth potential in place, solar firms throughout the province are scrambling to ensure they have the talent, resources, and technology to satisfy anticipated demand from commercial and residential consumers.
PV Powered’s acquisition of Marty Fleet is just one example of the numerous personnel shifts likely to take place in the coming months. In the meantime, executives at the company are doing little to hide their enthusiasm over Fleet’s arrival. “Marty is well respected in the industry and among his customers,” said PV Powered’s VP of Marketing & Sales, Erick Petersen. “He brings a wealth of solar market experience to PV Powered, and his appointment is timed perfectly to support our business expansion in Canada.”
