On Tuesday, June 22, Ontario Solar Network (OSN) will host its first London, ON networking event at the Hilton, bringing together industry professionals and agricultural stakeholders to discuss some of the potential opportunities and key challenges farmers face when pursuing feed-in-tariff (FIT) solar incentives.
In addition to providing an overview of Ontario’s microFIT and FIT programs, the event will include a panel discussion with leading experts well versed in the province’s Green Energy Act. Networking and Q&A sessions will provide additional opportunities for farmers to ask questions and voice their concerns about how they fit into the province’s aggressive solar push.
Chairman of Ontario Solar Network, Jacob Travis, explains, “PV systems are a serious investment, but farmers are well-situated to benefit from the solar incentives offered under the Green Energy Act.” He adds, “This event is designed to educate the community about the various systems, leasing plans, financing options, and other matters that can be confusing to those considering solar.”
The June 22 event is as much an opportunity for solar businesses as it is for farmers. Several companies have asked OSN for opportunities to exhibit, eager to connect with this sector. With nearly 60,000 farms, Ontario’s agricultural sector represents a huge market.
Vice-Chairman of OSN, David Gower, explains, “Residential and commercial solar requirements differ from those typically found in farming communities. By engaging directly with this target market, solar professionals can better service the unmet needs of farmers.”
“The Ontario Solar FIT Program” will be hosted Tuesday, June 22nd from 6pm to 9pm at the Hilton in London, ON.
Registration is $55, although alumni of Ontario Solar Academy and current members of OSN pay only $40. To register for this event, visit www.OntarioSolarNetwork.com.
